This migration is useful for organizations with higher mailbox counts, large amounts of data, or special integrations.

 Hybrid Migration

A hybrid migration connects your on-premises and cloud environments to work in tandem.  Mailboxes and data can be moved to Microsoft 365 at any time.  This migration is useful for companies looking to move to the cloud but still needs the on-prem environment for specific integrations or policies.

Q:  What is the user impact during a migration?

A:  When a user’s mailbox is successfully migrated to M365, they will need to re-authenticate their mailbox.  If they’re using Outlook, they would re-add the mailbox which would then point to M365.  If they use the web mail, they will navigate to https://oulook.office.com.

Q:  Can users use their on-prem Active Directory credentials for Microsoft 365?

A:  Yes.  Entra Connect (formally Azure AD Connect) can be setup to sync on-prem AD accounts to Microsoft 365, allowing users to use Single Sign-On.

 Q:  Can File Shares be migrated to Microsoft 365?

A:  Yes, file shares are migrated to SharePoint and shared to users through SharePoint and OneDrive.
